Client Overview
Varna na Mladite (“Varna of the Young”) is the youth portal of the Youth Activities Department of Varna Municipality, Bulgaria. Under the motto “Your city. Your initiative.” it connects young people, youth organisations and initiatives with news, events, volunteering, trainings and competitions.
Client’s Challenge
- An old site that needed a look young people relate to.
- Many content types: news, opportunities and announcements had to be easy to find.
- Keeping the history: years of earlier content could not be lost.

- A modern, dynamic, mobile-first design for a young audience.
- Clear sections the team updates on its own.
- Audience reach through a newsletter and social media.
Strategy and Solution
Research and Analysis
We reviewed the old site’s content and the topics the department publishes most, and built the categories and the homepage around them.
Strategy
We rebuilt the portal from scratch and kept the old site as an archive on its own subdomain, so the new site starts clean and nothing is lost.
Implementation
- New design in Elementor Pro with the brand’s bright identity and event photography.
- News-led homepage with hot, latest, editor’s-pick and most-read blocks.
- Categories: News, Culture, Trainings and Academies, Volunteering, Competitions, Announcements.
- Newsletter sign-up via MailerLite.
- Form protection with Cloudflare Turnstile and a custom DomGrid spam filter.
- Archive of the old site at arhiv.varnanamladite.com, linked from the new one.
- Events-ready with a calendar the department can switch on when needed.
Ongoing Maintenance and Support
DomGrid hosts and maintains the portal, while the department’s team publishes content on its own.
Final Results and Summary
Outcomes
- A new portal since May 2026 with more than 30 news items and initiatives published.
- Self-service publishing without technical help.
- Direct contact through a contact form, newsletter and Facebook, Instagram and TikTok.
- History preserved in the archive.
Summary
The new Varna na Mladite gives young people one place for every opportunity in the city, and gives the municipal team a tool they update themselves.
